The "Grooove" teen coffeehouse, founded in 1996 by two UNITY teens, is dedicated to promoting local teen talent through substance-free performance outlets.

The Grooove is organized by teens, for teens. The Grooove organizes monthly events, including open-microphone coffeehouses ("Grooove Café") and concerts featuring local teen bands. All Grooove events follow a substance-free policy, which means that performers and audience members (including adults) must be free of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

The Grooove continues today under the leadership of students from across Northern Berkshire. The Grooove committee meets every other Tuesday evening to discuss all areas of business--from recruiting performers, to booking a venue, to marketing events.

The Grooove operates as part of UNITY (United, Neighboring, Interdependent, Trusted Youth), a program of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, and is supported by funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

If you would like more information about the Grooove or are interested in performing at a Grooove event, please call (413) 663-7588.
