nbCC Bike Collective

Mondays, October 7 and 28

5:00-7:00pm

The Armory, 206 Ashland St., North Adams (look for the garage doors in the back)

Bring your own bike or work on a bike at the bike collective. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from other community members on basic bike fixes, or team up with more experienced bike mechanics to rebuild a bike. Tools and stands are provided. Parent Workshop: Dealing with Daylights Saving Time Stress

October 8

5-6pm

nbCC’s Conference Room, 61 Main Street, Room 213, North Adams

Parents, learn how time change affects our bodies and minds and how to prepare for it by creating and maintaining routines. Also learn creative ways to burn extra energy with limited daylight. Parenting Workshop: Surviving your Adolescents

October 9th and October 16th

10:30-12pm

nbCC’s Conference Room, 61 Main Street, Room 213, North Adams

This workshop is geared for parents who have children aged 13-and up. Learn how to manage teenage risk taking, what is normal adolescent behavior, what problems require professional attention and ways to improve your relationship with your teen. nbCC’s Monthly Forum: Gentrification and North Berkshire: Pursuing Inclusive Redevelopment

Tuesday, October 15

The Green, 85 Main Street, North Adams

Change is constant and with all change there are benefits and challenges. Join us for a continuing conversation on “Inclusive Redevelopment” and be an active voice in the community during a time of redevelopment and change. The goals of this forum are to re-establish the concept of “Inclusive Redevelopment”, envision what you, as a community member, want “Inclusive Redevelopment” to look like in North Berkshire and develop community priorities during this time of economic growth and regional change. The first half of the forum will be devoted to introductions and announcements and please bring your flyers for distribution. For more information, contact Amber Besaw at nbCC at (413) 663-7588. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition would like to get to know the residents of Adams better and hear about their concerns and interests! Stop in and chat with some of the friendly nbCC staff! No brochures, no flyers, just talk! Join Us! It’s nice to meet you!

 

DIY Kefir – FREE Working on Wellness Workshop Series

Wednesday, October 16

5-6:00 pm

UNO Community Center, 157 River Street, North Adams.

Learn the basics of making probiotic-rich kefir at home. It’s easy to make kefir - just add milk!  Eat or drink it, or use it in recipes in place of yogurt or buttermilk. Kids Safety of America: Child Abuse and Neglect

October 24

10-11am

nbCC’s Conference Room, 61 Main Street, Room 213, North Adams

Child Abuse & Neglect is a prevention and reporting Guide for parents, foster parents, step parents and other relatives.  Along with learning the differences between Abuse & Neglect it explains some of the symptoms and also encourages reporting and help for the child. Halloween West End Bike Around

Thursday, October 24

Greylock School, 100 Phelps Ave. North Adams

Downtown Bike Around moves to the West End for a Halloween Ride! Dress up and/or decorate your bike for a neighborhood bike ride! Wear a helmet and be sure to have lights on your bike. Call Amanda Chilson at (413) 663-7588 for more information.

 

UNO Halloween Party

FREE Community Event. Join the UNO Community Center for a spooky good time! Fun games, yummy treats, & ghoulish tunes! Come in Costume! Matter of Balance Classes

Do you have concerns about falling? A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. A FREE series of 8 classes including tips to reduce fear of falling and increase strength and balance. Wednesdays in October and November at The Spitzer Center, North Adams. Gardening Program

Saturday mornings at 10am

UNO Community Center Gardens, 157 River St

There is an exciting new development at the UNO Gardens! After lots of preparation, we're thrilled to be able to offer a community gardening program with local green thumb extraordinaire Jen Muñoz! The group convenes first at the River Street gardens across from The Porches at 9am. Then they move down the street to the UNO gardens at 10. After School Program

UNO Open Hours

Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am - 12pm, Fridays 12pm - 4pm

Come to the UNO Community Center to meet members of our Steering Committee, learn about our programs and events, and get to know your neighbors. 4-H Wacky STEAMsters Club

October 1st, 15th and 29th, 4 - 5:30pm

UNO Community Center, 157 River St

The 4-H Wacky STEAMsters are a fun filled STEAM group (ages 5-18). We tackle it all! From physics, to beadmaking, to breaking down scientific principles with fun, user-friendly, hands-on experiments. We meet through the summer months; this year’s focus will be on river maintenance and hiking! We are also planning two group field trips... at no charge! Healthy snacks provided. Parents are welcomed and encouraged! No drop off hours available. Option to register as an official member of 4-H and participate in other local groups and events. Alcoholics Anonymous

Fridays, 7 - 9pm

UNO Community Center, 157 River St

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem. Let’s Write...

The Nutrition Center
